5-0 out of 5 stars This is my Testimony, God is Awesome!
The following is the testimony I have from my experience in reading the book "Supernatural Childbirth" by Jackie Mize. The book addresses every area a woman who is currently pregnant, miscarried, has been told she cannot have children, may be experiencing. This is a must read for all women of God that are married and have a desire to have children.I could not believe how the Lord Blessed me and too how quickly he Blessed me. The main point of the book is God's promises are for All of His children not just for me Jackie or a few others it is for All, but it is our faith that God honors. Please read my testimony below and know "that with God All things are possible".
4-0 out of 5 stars Her Testimony Is Very Powerful!
What a wonderful book! Some say it sets you up for a letdown if you experience pain during birth.A thinking woman would know that God will give her the birth He wants, be it with or without pain.A painful birth certainly does not mean you failed during childbirth. But Jackie encourages us to stretch our faith to the limit, to not rule out the dunamis power of the Holy Spirit! He is able.Able to do ANYTHING, and we can rest assured He will give us the birth HE intended if we surrender to Him.Another useful book is Christ Centered Childbirth by Kelly Townsend. Both books helped me immensely during my births!Supernatural childbirth should be read by every pregnant woman, with the understanding that anything can happen and God can be glorified, no matter what happens.

5-0 out of 5 stars There is hope...
This book is a journey to creating hope versus worry. I began my pregnancy with a little worry that continued to grow until a friend introduced me to this book. So many things can go wrong, so many things can happen, however, we are not created to worry and fret. This book walks you through another couples triumphs of conception and delivery and gives you hope and confidence that you too can walk the same path that they did. In fact, the book takes you step by step on that path through a grounded Christian perspective that stands on the word of God. This isn't fluff! It is a real look at what the Bible says concerning conception, threatening miscarriage, and delivery through pratical application of the word of God. This book takes you on a path filled with hope! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars perfect for the information starved!!!
This book not only tells you what is going on with your baby and your body, it shows you!! It doesn't stop there. It has a picture and an explanation for just about any question you might have, from sexual postions to birhting choices. I LOVE this book!
5-0 out of 5 stars Super book
I bought this book long before I got pregnant, even before I got married. Why? I found it very informative flipping through it at my favorite bookstore. And was I glad I bought it when I finally got married and got pregnant.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Resource
I was looking for a book about pregnancy so I would know everything to expect that my wife would be going through. Most of the pregnancy books for fathers were pathetic, so I tried to find the most comprehensive book about the whole process that was written for anyone. This is the book.It truly is "the bible" of pregnancy information. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Comforting and Funny!!!
Bored with all those "stage" in life books for your baby to be?Perhaps you are (as I am) soon to be expecting and realize that you won't have a lot of time to read up about what your baby may/may not be up to and if it is normal after your baby arrives.Well then this book is for you!
4-0 out of 5 stars Great book for new mother
I purchased this book for a young friend of mine who was about to have a baby and had lots of questions about not only the baby, but about what her body was going through. She loves it and refers to it constantly.

5-0 out of 5 stars A top-notch guide to baby (and mom's) first year
This book provides an exceptionally thorough look at baby's first year from both the mother and baby's perspective. First-time mothers often express frustration about how ill-prepared they felt for the early weeks and months of motherhood. This book does an excellent job of giving mothers-to-be a realistic idea of what life after baby will really be like, for better and for worse. It's a truly one-of-a-kind and top-notch reference. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars It works
I used this method 21 years ago with my son.We started at 15 months. At 17 months, he could read a few dozen words.By 22 months, a few hundred words.By 2 years, he could almost anything.
5-0 out of 5 stars Two Generations Have Learned To Read Using This Book
My mother purchased a copy of this book in 1965 when I was an infant. Mom implemented Dr. Doman's gentle art of teaching and by the time I was two I was reading from Little Golden Books. It's no wonder the kindergarten teacher surprised I was reading at a 1st grade level at the age of 5 years.
5-0 out of 5 stars excellent program
This really works! It's NOT about drilling. It's about showing your child words frequently throughout the day for VERY short periods in a fun happy way right from the beginning.I think another reviewer mentioned that the author didn't mention reading aloud to your child, but honestly, folks, that's a given, right? This book was about a specific method to teach them to read. Not the obvious stuff that goes along with it.And the books they want you to use are your own homemade books that you make!About anything your child is interested in.My girls love this and my 4 year old is reading around a 6th grade level and my 1 1/2 year old can recognize and read a couple hundred different words and is beginning to figure out words that she hasn't even seen presented on cards before. This is so fun to do with your child and what a precious gift to give them. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars One of the better parenting books......
I thought this was one of the better parenting books I have read and believe me I read a lot of them.I have 3, very active boys, and I am always looking for some good easy to follow advice.I think the author(s) did a great job organizing the book and in the process making it very easy to read, which for a busy mom, I really appreciated.I really like the idea of summary pages at the end of each chapter so that I can refer easily to the most appropriate "skill" to be used in a pinch. When I read this book I felt I was receiving advice from a friend instead of a lecture from a book.I will read this book, I am sure, about 10 more times and I will probably like it even more.

5-0 out of 5 stars Kid Cooperation
Great practical tips for dealing with 2 and 4 year olds.Easy read.Made a difference almost immediately.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great parenting book
I am an avid reader of Dr. Sears books. I try to follow the parenting style he writes about as best as I can. I have almost all his books. The Discipline book he wrote was no help for me. I also tried "1,2,3 Magic" (I think that's the title), but I wasn't that fond of it. Then I read something that suggested this book, so I read it and LOVE it. It is easy to read and has wonderful suggestions on how to handle problems with your children and offers wonderful suggestions on how to handle yourself toward your children. I would suggest this book to everyone, especially to people who like Dr. Sears' books. ... Read more

Excellent Photographs - I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in the process that takes place from conception to birth.

5-0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous photos!
The pictures in this book are wonderful and it is not only fun for expecting parents, but also for sharing with your children once they start to ask questions about what happens inside mom when a baby is in there!

4-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Pictures!!
I was given this book as a gift after I found out I was pregnant. The pictures were awesome and the information very useful. My only disapointment is that 3/4 of the book is dedicated to the first 12 weeks.(I didn't receive it until I was 14 weeks) It is still amazing to see what my baby looked like as it was developing, but I wish the later months were more in depth. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Fairly balanced depiction of the truth.
I have been fascinated by pregnancy and birth since the first moment I was taught how babies are created.I can also remember the horror I felt when my mother told me of the awful experiences she had with doctors in the U.S. forty years ago.She chose to have me ten years later with a midwife at home.
3-0 out of 5 stars This was almost a good book
Cassidy's review of history was accomplished in the year and a half after she gave birth to her first child. She was clearly disappointed with her birth experience, and she shows significant bias toward doctors, modern medicine and shows tremendous (and unbalanced) favor toward midwives.Having worked in the Third World -as well as the US-and seen the horrible results(fistulas, stillbirths, deaths) from no prenatal care/lay midwives attending births/'natural' births....I cannot fathom how she can speak of midwives with such romantic fervor. Its almost as if she idealizes the perfect birth--and feels that it is attainable only if you have the right midwife, the right attitude, and stay away from doctors! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars What a fun book!
I admit I thought it would be Christian in nature, and realized it was spirituality in general. However, it did provide some much sought-after information in the second half of the book on midwifery.I learned quite a bit of what I know about birth from this book.I must say it took strength getting past the less-than-medical terminology, but what I learned was invaluable.I think the birth story about the woman who got stuck at 8cm and the midwife discovered she was emotionally stuck due to the fact that her husband had never articulated that he loved her out loud, well that was so touching to read. She went on to deliver after midwives left the room and he, for the first time, said "I love you."What wisdom, and it changed my outlook on delivery completely from a medical event, to an emotional, and yes, spiritual event.Since that time, I have grown in my own faith, yet am indebted to this book! A worthwhile read for aspiring childbirth professionals as well as pregnant mommas!
5-0 out of 5 stars Inspiring Natural Childbirth Book
I'll admit it took me a while to get over the way that Ina May and others in this book speak. At first I found it distracting, but once I got into the mentality of The Farm, I found this book very inspiring. It contains a lot of very detailed information on anatomy and the practice of midwifery, but the best part is the stories. This book is packed full of real-life accounts of natural births- some good, some bad, but all amazing. When I finished, I felt empowered to give birth naturally and able to take control of my own pregnancy and labor.I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is considering natural childbirth.

1-0 out of 5 stars Puh-lease . . .felt like was I reading an erotic novel
First, I am a very open-minded person, raised by a hippy/Biker family.I really expected to identify with this book. While I appreciate the what Ina May's movement accomplished during its time, I felt like the book was almost a joke--verging more on detailing accounts of an occult community--A community of people living on old school buses in the woods, delivering each other's babies.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great parenting book
This & all the books in the Dr.Sears parenting library are wonderful! Very helpful with caring, smart ways to make parenting easier. You can really tell that the authors enjoy thier work & being parents themselves.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must-read for every new mother
Thank you Dr. Sears!Attachment parenting has been around since the beginning of time, but we have Dr Sears to thank for bringing it to the forefront of discussion with the many books he has published, which all rally around the belief in AP.This is a must-read for first-time moms, as well as a great book for moms with children. With how our society pushes mothers to create independence in our children from the second they are born, telling us if we don't they will be clingy, whiny brats with the inability to allow us mothers to go on with our own independent lives, Dr. Sears brings us back to the importance of holding, loving and nursing our children, impressing upon us how these are CHILDREN who NEED their parents.I've read this book and now purchased it as a babyshower gift.
5-0 out of 5 stars Decide for yourself about attachment parenting
Before I read this book, "attachment parenting" was just a phrase I'd heard thrown around--with good and bad connotations. This book explains the principles of attachment parenting, the benefits of it, and the challenges. When I reach a time in my life where I'm ready to have a baby, I am definitely going to try out some of these techniques. I already knew I was going to try breastfeeding for at least a year, but now I'll add to that trying out the baby sling and bed sharing.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for the first time parent
I got this for my third child.I was acutally looking for a pregnancy journal that I could keep by months or weeks, not daily. Most of the journals that I checked out required daily entries which is almost impossible with two little boys.I figured If I get an organizer, I might be able to keep a good record that I can actually keep. Well, this is filled with great informations and plenty of space for interviews to choose Obstetrician, midwife, pediatrician, daycare arrangement; detailed shopping list to prepare for the baby; space for childbirth class notes; checklist for the delivery; and even the essential first week's worth of feeding and diapering record charts. This would've been a great thing if I got it for my first born. But I already know which obstetrician and pediatrician to go to, I already own lots of baby stuff, etc.Even though this is a great book, this didn't meet my need.I should've gotten the 'The Belly Book' by Amy Krouse Rosenthal.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Organizer!
I am 4 months pregnant and this item has been a huge help so far.It has great information and tips. The only part of this book that I do not see myself using is the OB interview pages, and this is only because I bought the book after I already had an OB.The book has everything to help you keep track of prenatal doctor visits, your baby registry, fetal movements, your weight, diet and the list goes on.It has very helpful checklists with tips, which I really appreciate because this is my first pregnant and I don't know what I am doing!I highly recommend this planner!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Useful Planner!
This is a fantastic planner for everyone whether you're pregnant yourself or as a gift. The checklists are incredibly helpful and organized; I especially love the interview questions for OBs and Midwives. The healthy diet information is accurate and really sorts out what is and is not ok to eat while pregnant. Also very helpful is the list of resources of websites and books.Just overall a very easy to use planner! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars I'm Very Grateful For This Book!
I was told I could never have a normal birth due to my hip size by a military doctor back in 1990.A good midwife, the book Childbirth Without Fear, and a wonderful Bradley childbirth education class using this book rescued me from a small comment that could have affected how I delivered the rest of my babies.I went on to have a wonderful birth experience, became a childbirth instructor, doula, doula trainer, and ultimately wrote the book Christ Centered Childbirth that is based on the principles of this book and the book Childbirth Without Fear.If you want a normal undisturbed birth, I would highly recommend this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars You've got to read this book!
I received this book as a gift. There are quite a few books on this subject on the market and this one is the best. I too could not put it down and finished it in 3 days. It's a huge book, a great resource that is well researched and written.. I have a few friends who've purchased this book and really loved it too. I can highly recommend this book.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great first TTC book to read...
My husband and I are looking to start a family in the next 5-6 months. I just finished reading this book and found it to be very informative, especially for someone who is just taking the first steps at learning how to optimally prepare for trying to conceive. It is written in simplistic language (which could seem overly simplified and repetitive to those who were already familiar with the information but was absolutely perfect for me, who just wanted to soak up all the information I could and fully understand what steps to take to promote pregnancy in the timeframe we are hoping for).I think it is perfect to read about 4-6 months prior to trying or if you have been having difficulty in conceiving, as the author does take a significant amount ot time explaining possible causes and alternatives.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome book--pulls no punches
I really like the way Dr. Williams gives straighforward advice and also doesn't condemn or judge. I feel much more hopeful after reading this book! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Use it for what it is
This book isn't for people who are trying to conceive. For those who are preparing to do it in the future it offers good information on diet and environmental hazards.Use it for what it is and it is useful. If you are trying to conceive this book isn't for you.

1-0 out of 5 stars Save your money
This book was useless. It is a great idea to have a book about conception however this book fails to live up to the lofty task. I think my biggest complaint with the book is the fact that the book is dull and really doesn't go into terffic detail about how life changes after a baby. Or practical step to take before getting pregnant. Instead it focuses to much on diet not enough on the huge emtional changes. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for people who are internet savvy
I love this book! I'm one of those people who want a unique name for my child and this book is laid out in a very different way than the other books I have. The other reviewers are correct in that there are no meanings given, but anyone with an internet connection can look up the names themselves. I also have one of those thick 30,000 best world names books and prefer this smaller one. If you are looking for unique names and a little entertainment, this book is great. It's a small book, so don't expect to just buy this book as you search for your baby's name.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Name Book!
This book is great. It gives you the list of today's top 100 names, as well as tossing out some lesser known ones from other parts of the world, and names that haven't been in the mainstream for decades. Great book if you want a different name for your baby without it being too out there or borderlining trashy. We got our baby's name from this book! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Not for teachers
This is a handbook designed for students.I bought it to build my prenatal teaching library and am disappointed. The pictures are dated but the poses are classic. There are also poses for postnatal.

4-0 out of 5 stars good source of info
This book was helpful in letting me know which poses were still ok for me to do.It gave me options when my instructor was doing things that I could not do. What is with the updated front cover but the 80's photos on the inside?

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for expectant mommies
I like the organization of the book. I compared to others and I like this one better because it is clear and has good pictures. I am looking forward the post-partum exercises with the baby, the pictures look so fun and amazing! ... Read more
