1-0 out of 5 stars Great title, stupid book
This book is so bad that I cannot help wondering if the people who wrote such glowing reviews are freinds and family of the author. This was a total waste of time and money.I only paid $4.99 for the book and that was too much. This is a very immature approach to parenting and life.If you are looking for someting wise and funny, try Erma Bombeck.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have for every parent
This book was laugh out loud funny.Amy is incredibly witty. She finds humor in ordinary family life. After I read this book I realized that my family is actually "normal".I read this book in one night.Once you start reading you will not be able to put it down. After reading this book I felt a sense of relief from the frustrations of the toddler years.Buy it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice to Know I'm Not Alone
I'm beginning to think that Amy has video cameras set up in my house, because so much of what happens in her books, happen in my house. Once again, Amy has written a short, sweet and very funny book about motherhood. Once again, Amy has made me feel like I'm not the only mom who feels like she does -- like taking off as a passenger in a semi one day. A must read for moms! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars it is what it is: funny
Cheerfully Childless came out at a time when it wasn't trendy to say you didn't want to have children.(Anyone up for a little revolution?)If you're someone that's being harassed by well-meaning family members and friends for choosing not to have children, then buy it - it's not only amusing, it will reinforce the fact that you've made the right decision.
2-0 out of 5 stars Nothing Insightful
This book was a disappointment. The extremely light read was a bland description of the utterly obvious.Nothing insightful, helpful or of quality can be found to counter the "Pro - creation" attitude in America. If you are looking for a read that will occupy time in a waiting room you found it, however if you are looking for insightful thought on the childless revolution this is not your book.

3-0 out of 5 stars Sorta funny, somewhat insightful, but not worth it
I won't go into all the reasons why I bought this book (I think the title says it all). The sample pages were cute and funny and I thought this would be a light-hearted read. What I got was a light - very light - read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very funny comics
I just happened to see this book sitting by the register at a bookstore, and I picked it up, not expecting to buy it.The very first comic I turned to was of a car driving down the highway, with two kids in the backseat, looking hopefully at the car they were passing.Mom and Dad were in the front driving, and the kids had a sign hanging out the back window that said (roughly paraphrased), "Please help. Our dad won't stop and ask for directions!"

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun for couples!
My boyfriend and I absolutely loved Do you know you Wife? as well as Do you know your Husband?.We went on vacation and complete about 20 questions a day!We had so much fun and so many laughs completing both books. I suggest these books for any couple who is comfortable with one another and who just wants to add some light fun in their lives.

3-0 out of 5 stars I failed the test
I think the overall concept of this book is great but I think some of the questions are completely irrelevant, like "what is the name of her elementary school." I know the town where she grew up but does it really matter if I knew the name of the school?Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Variety, Great Taste, Fun Extras
This is a very nice book to own.I keep mine in the kitchen for easy access to many great recipes. What is so wonderful about this book, is that it contains a variety of food, some American style recipes, as well as recipes from other countries and nationalities. There is also an entertainment factor to this collection.Poetry, short annecdotes and fun blurbs abound in this book!I absolutely enjoyed it!

5-0 out of 5 stars More Than a Cookbook!
Well, it doesn't have pictures, but it has cartoons to make you grin!Of course, I headed to the Desserts section.I made the Green Tea Ice Cream.Turned out yummy!I like the Qu'ran references in this cookbook that are specific to food and health.

5-0 out of 5 stars All the recipes sound great
I'm the kind of person who flips through recipe books saying, "Oh my goodness! Who in their right mind would make that?" Even when I do settle on a recipe that sounds good, I tend to add ingredients, or change the proportions to suit myself. Amazingly, ALL the recipes in this little book sound great. I haven't tried them all yet, but the ones I have were indeed delicious, without my souping them up.

5-0 out of 5 stars Depends Review
This book will pull you in from the first page.Look for a letter from Martha Stewart to Erma Bombeck and the return letter from Erma to Martha, also find out about some Barbie Dolls new on the market. This author has a great sense of humor, even when dicussing serious matters. She makes you smile at yourself and when that happens, healing and learning occur. Thanks, Barbara.

2-0 out of 5 stars I thought this book was going to be about women's wrestling!
Despite the scatalogical references in the title this was a Christian book in the end. Mrs. Johnson is not afraid to make herself the butt of the joke, and most of her stories were a gas. Though not fine literature, thisbook definitely deserves a number two. I'm grateful she felt that sharingthese stories was her Christian duty.5-0 out of 5 stars Hillarious!

Editorial Review

Author Joe Borgenicht doesn't reveal here what he chose to name his son, but you can bet it's not Eubie, Ralph, or Boris. He's right on target when he says parents ought to find the name "that the fewest number of school children could potentially make fun of," and his guidelines are simple. Among them: don't use "clevur speling," avoid naming your kid after the lead character from a blockbuster film, and designate the names of cities and states for maps only. It's not a perfect baby-shower gift for everyone, as he mentions plenty of names that unfortunately rhyme with anatomical parts usually heard only in sex-ed classes. And some of his advice is utterly subjective: the name "Ethan," in his opinion, evokes the image of "a thick sweater-wearing, curly-haired college kid who smokes a lot of pot." But the list of more than 1,000 names to avoid is worth plenty of chuckles, and may save your offspring from 85 or so years of embarrassment. Sure, those pregnancy hormones are powerful, but they needn't be responsible for a lifetime of suffering on the part of your child. --Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent mood lifter
I give this book 5 stars, cos for what it aims to be, its perfect. you can't read it straight thru like a novel but if you want to read pithy comments on stuff, & some spot-on quotes, this is great. if you ever felt like some man let you down, like life stinks, or things ain't fair, then enjoy the short sweet words of these wise women as they get right to the core. i never knew dolly parton was so insightful, her quotes being some of the hundreds in this book that took me by pleasant surprise & made me laugh out loud. i can't stop lending this book to people. its not anti-man any more than its anti-women (its both), and generally pokes fun at humanity.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hillarious
I bought this book as a gift and have since purchased a copy for myself. The wit is superb. Fabulous! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Oddly enough, it's a page turner
I read this book with great anticipation as I had just enlisted Dr. Weinberger to be my first child's pediatrician. It's not another "How to Change a Diaper" book, but really his observations as he went about setting up what is now a very busy practice and raising his own kids.It addresses larger philosophical points through real life stories without espousing a rigorous child rearing regimen. It's a a light, easy read (I read it in pieces on the train while commuting to and from NYC) and I found it to be both humorous and enjoyable, as I have my subsequent relationship with Dr. Weinberger and my two children.

5-0 out of 5 stars I have never laughed so hard
This is a very funny, insightful book.I recommend it to anyone even thinking about having kids.

4-0 out of 5 stars Delightful reading
Though I had a hard time getting through the first couple chapters, once I got into this book--it was excellent. Dr. Weinberger's advice is so gently couched in delightful anecdotes that you hardly even realize your reading advice until you find yourself saying, "ah, good idea." Had he given the advise directly, rather than in an illustration, it wouldn't have hit home the same way. Its not a textbook, but is for the parent who has a grasp on the basics and is looking for something a little deeper, and something inspiring. ... Read more

I am not a very avid reader normally, but I bought Mike Greenberg's
3-0 out of 5 stars Fun, but not funy
After years of listening to Greenberg and following his career both in Chicago and nationaly, I was a little disappointedthat I wasn't more inpressed with what he had to say.His amusing neurotic nature is one of everyman, and the book does have some amusing moments.Mike is a bumbler, as all middle-aged men eventually become, and his mishaps are no more newsworhty than anybody else's.

4-0 out of 5 stars sportscaster
This was a pretty funny book, although Mr Greenberg is a better sportscaster than an author. I did enjoy the book, there were some spots where things were slow and I was waiting for the funny stuff, which sometimes wasn't there. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Life is rough in the Hamptons
Firstly, this book was published June 19th. There are 5 (5 star) reviews written prior to the publishing date. Me thinks I smell a fish.
3-0 out of 5 stars close ,but no cigar
Multiply by 10, no 20 times what LL describes in "Gutted," then you can you may begin to comprehend the true meaning of "gutted."
5-0 out of 5 stars Rings true
My wife and I were in the process of renovating the 100 year-old fixer-upper that we'd recently purchased. I was looking for a how-to book at my local Border's bookstore and I found this novel shelved with the home-improvement books. I'm not sure if it was a mistake or if there's a marketing genius working at the store, but I snatched this book up instantly.
