5-0 out of 5 stars Inconceivable makes it all conceivable
This book is great for anyone who has been told she cannot have a baby "on her own" and for anyone feeling as though no one understands. Julia articulates the frustration, overwhelm, and disappointment that is felt by so many of us who have been told we are too old or are infertile while at the same time gives us hope that there is an alternative. I wish I could meet her in person and thank her. On the inside back flap of the book it says "maybe you are the person Julia knows is out there waiting to hear it" (her story). I was that person and the book made a huge difference in the way I am going forth and made a huge difference in my life!!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best books out there
Plain and simple, Julia Indichova just makes this all manageable. She has walked the walk and knows what it means to be told that a baby is not possible. She has found a path that works and she is generous in sharing her journey with us. The people who are disappointed are upset that there is no magic formula here. But I found hope in the fact that no one solution works for everyone, that each of our paths are unique. Like our babies!Read this book, you will not be disappointed.

1-0 out of 5 stars Totally deceived
If I'd known this was about secondary infertility, I would not have bought it. For the truly infertile, do yourself and your psyche a favor: Save the [PRICE]. Go ahead drink carrot juice, practice yoga, and stop reading books such as this one. At least those are three things that are affirmative self-loving acts that will keep you sane. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Biased
I agree with a lot of the other reviews here; this book is more geared towards the childless than the childfree. There is a huge difference. The term childless applies to anyone who wants a child and cannot have one. The term childfree applies to anyone (straight, gay, or bisexual) who plans not to raise or bear children for a variety of reasons.
4-0 out of 5 stars A bit dry but captures the ambivalence
Lisle captures the ambivalence of childlessness for most women. There is so much pressure in society to have children that only a few really independent women are really capable of saying "no, I think I will pass" and not looking back. Many make the decision just as she did, by not really making the decision or by waiting to try so late in life that the chances are low.
2-0 out of 5 stars This makes my brain hurt
I am a highly educated woman, but the language of this book is very hard to grasp. It gives wonderful historical information and facts, which is what the 2 stars are for, but my brain had to translate at least 1 word in every 2 sentences, making reading slow and difficult. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars some good information, poorly written
There are a very small number of books written on the subject of pre-conception.Unfortunately, if you are looking for a well written guide to help the intelligent couple prepare for pregnancy this is not it.However, it was a fun read.If you can get past the sheer number of exclamation points, you will find fun facts about fertility and conception myths, legends, folklore and spells. If you are looking to add some fun and whimsy to this exciting time, I highly recommend this book.If you are looking for fact on conception and would like a guide to help answer your medical questions/dietary concerns/address your conception worries (such as genetic concerns, etc.) this is not the book for you.I do highly recommend Before your Pregnancy by Amy Ogle and Lisa Mazzullo.Although slightly dated is it extremely comprehensive and answered all of my questions/concerns.

5-0 out of 5 stars a wonderful &fantastic book!
i received this bookas a gift &i couldn't put it down! i would highly recommend this book for anyone who is trying to have a baby ..... truly a fantastic book!it offers ideas on eating, having fun, relaxing&much much more!

3-0 out of 5 stars Decent information, but the writing is less than stellar
I wanted to like this book. It really has decent information that I haven't found anywhere else. However, I found the authors' writing style exceptionally annoying. Nearly every sentence ends in an exclamation point, and the grammar would make an English teacher cry. With each page I turned, I became less interested in the information and more distracted by the writing. The incessant perkiness of the authors is also a big turnoff for men. My husband read two pages and quit.

5-0 out of 5 stars See it from their eyes
Intended Parents: Miracles Do Happen takes readers through a roller coaster of emotions as it allows you to look into the soul of an intended parent.Surrogacy can be a very frightening yet joyous experience. After several attempts at pregnancy, surrogacy can often times be the last opportunity to have a child of your own, leaving your emotions to be extremely vulnerable.Sandra Watson Rapley illustrates her worries and anxieties along with her overwhelmingly ecstatic victory as she becomes a mother so clearly, as you read you actually take on the role of the intended mother. Thus leaving you to feel tired when she worries, cry when she is frightened and beam when she finally becomes amother.
5-0 out of 5 stars Compelling insight in Surrogacy
A wonderfully compelling insight into the world of Surrogacy with this truly personal account, it's a terrific page-turner.Fantastic read for anyone thinking about embarking on this journey themselves or for anyone with an interest in this complex subject.Highly recommended. When does the sequel come out??

My wife and I have been struggeling with infertility for several years and we were finally told that we will need a egg donor to have a child. We did not know where to begin or who to turn to. While exploring the Internet we came across this book, it gave us all the information and answered questions that we never even though of. Thank you so much for writing this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't start infertility treatment until you read this!
I can't believe that anyone let me start the process of infertilitytreatment (beyond the clomid stage) without telling me to read this.Ifound it on my own when having to decide whether my only chance to have achild, egg donation, was right for my husband and myself.I only WISHsomeone had told me about it sooner. It would have helped me think aboutall of "this" in a not so crazy way. It's technical, but, thoseof us who go through infertility procedures know more about the gettingpregnant process than most books and online souces give us credit for. These authors treat us like intelligent human beings.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a wise book !
As an infertility specialist, I'd heartily recommend this book to all infertile couples - and their doctors as well. The forte of this book is the superb way in which emotional issues have been discussed.

5-0 out of 5 stars expert guidance
My husband and I have been struggling with infertility for six years and have read several books on the subject.Choosing Assisted Reproduction is the most comprehensive, informative and challenging book that we have come across. We were both relieved to see that the authors raise some of theethical questions that we are struggling with. They do so in a verysensitive way, always respecting the difficult choices that infertilitypatients face in this new world of baby making. I recommend this bookto anyone going through infertility, as well as to their families andfriends. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Descriptive, Concise, and Hopeful
I read this book before I had my first Laparoscopy and HSG. It helped me to know what to expect, and how the procedure is performed. And (! ) if I should get a disappointing diagnosis, which I did, I had it all right therein my hands. From PCOS to Endo to Adhesions, it has it all, but noteveryone has it all. And for this reason I found it extremely helpful formany friends of mine who have a different diagnosis than I to give themdescriptive reference. What I especially liked about the Author was his wayof "looking" into his patients feelings. I wish more doctorswould take that extra, yet essential time, to really know their clients.

2-0 out of 5 stars Good on 'structural' problems, lacking in other areas
This book is filled with valuable information, but there are two problems:5-0 out of 5 stars Be an active participant in your case management

2-0 out of 5 stars Title is Misleading-Did not find this book helpful!
I got this book as a gift (prematurely in my opinion!), and did not learn anything new about holistic practices or natural remedies.
1-0 out of 5 stars Just Not Very Good
I'm a big fan of using natural means to overcome fertility issues and have used them with great success myself.I've truly enjoyed some other books I've read on this subject and have found them very useful.I had high hopes for this book as well, but found some really serious problems with it. 2-0 out of 5 stars for beginners only
I think this book may be helpful to people who have absolutely no experience with holistic therapies, but if you are not new to alternatives, please make another choice. This book will not be worth your money. Itbasically lists the alternatives available (homeopathy, reflexology, accupuncture, etc.) and some testimonials for each type of alternative. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars In Agreeance
I agree with the other reviewer - their emphasis on timing having to be perfect has caused quite a lot of anxiety for me.After all, there's only so much we can control about this process and the rest is part nature, part luck. I would reccomend this book to someone doing home IVI's with fresh sperm, but it will only cause more angst to those doing frozen IUI's with their doctor.

3-0 out of 5 stars Ok, but a tad melodramatic
This was the first pregnancy book I read.Frankly, I found it a bit scary. The authors clearly had a very hard time with conception and with their small-town North Carolina doctors. That seems to have made them a tad fanatical about moms-to-be doing *everything* "right" or they'll never have a child. And I'm not sure the authros' (expectation and) experience of homophobia is particularly informative for those of us in more progressive settings.I very much appreciate the info. I got from the book; now I just have to try not to worry. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Method!Article link!
I was skeptical that this type of method or that anything having to do with hypnosis would help me in any way throughout my pregnancy - but now I have used it TWICE!After a friends recommendation, I ordered O'Neill's bundle and my husband and I both read it and it provided a wonderful way of approaching childbirth that I had never thought of before, and I am so glad that I did.I felt truly in sync with my body and baby...and my husband.Every woman should know about this.My friend sent me this link to a recent article on O'Neill:
5-0 out of 5 stars I read Hypnosis doubles IVF success also
I used this method ,after trying without it and feeling sad and frustrated. I was renewed after reading book and listening to CD . I highly reccomend this method as it deals with issues no one else addresses and the hypnosis worked like a charm . I then went on to use The Hypnobirthing Bundle For Happy Hypnomoms and Blissful Hypnobabies and my dream was complete ,a healthy baby girl naturally.I think all fertility offices should suggest this so all fertility hopefuls can double their IVFsuccess rateas the Israeli research states. Good Luck. This made the road alot easier, faster and sucessful.

1-0 out of 5 stars If you have high FSH, don't buy this book
There's nothing in here for women with a diagnosis of high FSH, except the tripe we already get from every RE in the world: you can't get pregnant with your own eggs, so don't bother trying.5-0 out of 5 stars Not your typical getting-pregnant book
This book, while it does explain the basics of assisted reproduction, is more a book to help you handle the stresses on a couple dealing with infertility. It has very good suggestions regarding talking to each other about your hopes and fears, dealing with painful or frightening medical procedures, and seeing yourself as healthy and whole, instead of wondering why your body won't work.It also gives advice on dealing with doctors and insurance companies. It really helped me feel as if I was in control of the process again, instead of at the mercy of doctors, medicines, and my uncooperative body.If you are beginning to feel like you can't go on with the process, try to read this book before you make any big decisions. It was very helpful.

3-0 out of 5 stars A good book if you are looking for emotional support, too.
In addition to information regarding fertility, infertility, and assisted reproductive technologies, this book also gives you check-lists and other forms to help you organize your health issues, thoughts, feelings, andfinances. It spends time also addressing what you may be going throughemotionally.I consult this book occasionally, but not often. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A MUST HAVE FOR NEW PARENTS!!!
This is a great book. My husband and I bought it before we got pregnant, and folllowed through it for all 3 trimesters and after our baby was born. 2-0 out of 5 stars Not really worth it
If you like gorgeous photos of food, then this is your book. If you want useful recipes to increase fertility and stay healthy during pregnancy, better books exist. Since this book is published in London, American (United States) readers will find it hard to translate some of the expressions; i.e., gingernuts for gingersnap cookies, rocket for arugula, and a food referred to as "pulses" which I still have not figured out. The beginning of the book covers general topics related to pregnancy (such as eating and exercising) with only 2 to 3 pages dedicated to each topic and no new information. The exercise section had only 3 exercises with references to breathing in and out while closing and opening your front and back passages. I could not figure out what was meant by "passage". The recipes seemed to be based on five ingredients--ginger (fresh or sugared), sardines, tofu, figs, and apricots. Many had ingredients that are hard to find, like tamarind pulp and creme fraiche. The Nutrition Notes that follow each recipe would be helpful if they were listed with the measurement system in the USA. By the time I read the Chilled Garlic and Almond Soup with Grapes and the Bacon-wrapped Trout with Oatmeal Stuffing recipes, I was queasy and decided to return the book. ... Read more
