5-0 out of 5 stars This is the Book You Need
I am a legal aid hotline attorney and own an online medical supply and equipment business. I would with a number of physician groups. I agree with the previous reviewer that this is an essential book for all medical service providers in private practice. So many physician groups fail to collect all the fees they can because they don't have a full understanding of proper coding and billing. And, many lawsuits could be avoided and/or minimized with proper documentation. And, of coure, as any medical malpractice attorney will tell you, the best way to avoid getting sued in the first place is to communicate, clearly and frequently, with your patients. This is the kind of information they don't teach in medical school but every physician needs to know. Successful medical practices today require so much more than just quality medical care. This books helps you figure out how to do all the rest.

5-0 out of 5 stars Itsy Bitsy your the best
I got the book after taking the actual Itsy Bitsy Yoga class with my son the first time.We really enjoy it & it does help with his digestive system.I highly recommend the class & book to anyone who has children.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun Book to Bond with Baby...
I love yoga and was ecstatic to see such a book.I was even more ecstatic to find that the library in my area had it.The poses are wonderful for kids.Unfortunately, I was unable to try some of the beginning ones because my daughter was already in the middle age group of the book, but I read through the whole book and found it to be very informative. My daughter loves doing active things so this is great for us to do together.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book!
I love this book.I started using it when my baby was 4 weeks old. After trying to do "mommy baby" yoga (using Baby Om) I decided it was much easier to do yoga with my baby separately from my own practice, though there is some overlap.Realistically, you have to stop a million times usually to wipe spit up, nurse, burp, etc, and for me it worked better to have all my attention on my baby. This book gives simple exercises, and great tips to make the experience enjoyable for baby. My baby has gotten more and more used to it the more we do it, and she is very calm, relaxed and peaceful when we do it now.I also like this book because it gives new exercises based on lots of developmental steps (head holding, almost sitting, etc) instead of just yoga for a baby - we all know that a 4 week old is much different from a 4 month old!I highly recommend this and plan to use it until my baby is 2! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Stressing the point about Stress
I read this book a few months back and I'm still not decided on whether I 'loved' this book or not.I did like the book.It provided a lot of information I wasn't aware of, but I'm not sure I really liked the set-up of the book or some of the content. The main focus of this book is basically what hidden aspects of growing up stress a child out, and how that stress affects a childs development. He touches on some of the basic aspects like divorce, and death, but most of the book focus's on things that force a child to grow up too quickly. The main conclusion of every single argument in the book is anything that forces a child to grow up too quickly or puts pressure on a child beyond their natural capabilites is stressful for a child.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just Take a Bite
Simple checklists to narrow down a preliminary diagnosis.Answered all my questions and gave some good strategies.

5-0 out of 5 stars A terrific solutions guide for helping kids with food aversions and challenging eating behaviors
This book came highly recommended to me by a friend who works with children who have a variety of different special needs. She pointed out that it picks up where a lot of books about eating challenges and "picky eating" behaviors leave off, dealing with the child whose food repertoire may consist of two or three foods; and who may be facing significant physical/behavioral or other challenges that interfere with the process of eating.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great book - easy reading
This book was informative, helpful and easy to read.My only wish is that it would have given more helpful ideas on younger kids (2-3).It seemed to have more ideas to help a picky eater of around 4-5 years old.Otherwise great book. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Parent-Friendly Guide to the Toddler Years
This book does a great job of providing you with an instant overview of what the toddler years (ages 1 to 3) are likely to have in store for you and your toddler. The author, Ann Douglas, who is best known for her books "The Mother of All Pregnancy Books" and "The Mother of All Baby Books," provides parents with a mix of parenting and health information, the very types of information that parents of one and two year olds need. Whether it's a discipline problem like biting or hitting or temper tantrums, a sleep problem like night-waking or early rising, a mealtime problem like picky eating or having hardly any appetite at all, health concerns, or your desire to tap into your toddler's desire to learn anything and everything about everything, this book has a lot to offer.
5-0 out of 5 stars This book is a lot of fun
How can you not like a book with this title? It is a huge book with tons of information.I find it a lot more helpful and user friendly than the what to expect series....but that's just my opinion...Great information - I keep it out for ideas, suggestions and to check up on my toddlers progress.

2-0 out of 5 stars not super
I had liked The Mother of All Pregnancy Books and decided to try this one. But I don't find it nearly as complete or helpful as "What to Expect the Toddler Years". I haven't read it cover to cover, but so far I find that the sections don't delve deeply enough into topics or offer unique suggestions/advice. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Helpful and Healing
This is my fourth purchase of Weil's CDs in the past 14 months. The first two were for my partner who was anticipating and then recovering from diverticulitis surgery. The second and third pairs were for friends enduring chemo and radiation after cancer surgery. The latest was for my oldest nephew who is dealing with a currently inoperable/untreatable intracranial hemorrage. My nephew, a hard-living Texas oil industry type, was the only one resistant to the concept. After actually trying the process, he's on his way to a 360. My partner and my friends didn't resist at all and put these meditational practices to good use immediately with very positive results. I might add that they, and I, continue to use the CDs for health maintenance.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent First Choice for Learning Breath Yoga
If you have never done breath work before, Dr. Weil's CD: Breathing The Master Key to Self Healing is an excellent first choice that will provide a series of short exercises to improve your breathing technique, quiet your mind, and help you clear your daily tension and anxiety prior to deeper meditation. This initial preparation assumes that you know little about breath discipline (a form of Yoga), and takes you from the very beginning with a kindly voice and beautiful music.Dr. Weil's producer has taken care to provide the best quality sound, the best musicians, and even a high quality CD that will resist wear.(I use my CD every day on my bus commute to town.)

I received this book as a gift. There are quite a few books on this subject on the market and this one is the best. I too could not put it down and finished it in 3 days. It's a huge book, a great resource that is well researched and written.. I have a few friends who've purchased this book and really loved it too. I can highly recommend this book.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Pregnancy Gift
I received this journal from a girlfriend when I was pregnant with my first child from a girlfriend. It does not have a large amount of space for personal writing if you intend to use the book as a true journal. The information however is very informative and interesting. What I enjoyed the most however were the bits of information on pregnancy in other cultures, non of the other pregnancy books or journals included that topic.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just right
I think this journal has just the right balance of interesting info and space for me to write. It was fun having something to read each day about the baby and our health. I also like that I could write in the dates based on my due date so I could easily see where I was throughout my pregnancy. I've given it several times as gifts to friends. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Anger Workbook
I would definitly recommend the "Anger Workbook for Women," Dr. Laura Petracek was excellent in way in dealing with inward and outward anger. Her recommendations and advice, and workbook style pages is a great ways to address you anger and also keep a journal to see your own improvement. This book is a great resource and a great deal!

5-0 out of 5 stars Women Get Angry, Too
As a mental health practicioner and specialist in the fields of anger management and family violence, I highly recommend Laura Petraceks's new book.To her credit, the author does not minimize or excuse women's anger, and understands that whether directed inwardly or outwardly, aggressive impulses are highly destructive regardless of the individual's gender. But the author also understands that in some ways women experience anger differently than men.Her sections on anger and depression are insightful, and her discussion of PMS is straighforward and refreshingly un-PC.Overall, the information is presented clearly and directly, and the exercises well-thought-out and practical. It should be a wonderful aid to any woman seriously working on anger issues, whether she is doing so in an invidual, couples or group therapy setting. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Best book for new parents!
We were given this book as a gift for our son shortly after he was born.He is 3 and has been on antibiotics since day-one due to kidney reflux. We have used this book as a guideline for his nutrition from the very first. It helped us solve much of that early "colic" crying (i.e. - any crying doctors can't explain) by adjusting my diet while breast feeding him.It has also helped him avoid many of the millions of ear/sinus/chest infections most babies get. He's probably only had about 2 colds and they were short-lived due to nutritional changes suggested by this book.It has helped us keep him healthy while taking daily antibiotics (which can wreak havoc with your system even while helping you).Best of all, he thinks fruit is junk food and loves veggies. We actually couldn't get him to try cake or icecream at his 3rd birthday. He's had next to no processed sugar in his life. Our son eats better than we do!We are very thankful we had this guideline to help us get him on the right track early on so we didn't have to wrestle a toddler away from typical American "nutrition". ... There's a huge difference between "natural" and "easy"--just ask a woman who chose natural childbirth! Breastfeeding is certainly the most natural option for feeding your little one, and repeated studies have shown its nutritive value. And I feel like short of mastitis, I went through it ALL!And no one, NO ONE, will tell it like it is with regards to THRUSH, which I really battled with -- in fact no other books, pamphlets, you-name-it, even TOUCH the subject, which really afflicts SO MANY women!and it is curable and DOES NOT have to mean the end of your breast-feeding days! Nothing really does!read DR. JACK and you'll see! Then you'll be buying this book for everyone else like I've been doing ever since!

2-0 out of 5 stars I know you hate the drug industry but...
It sounds like many of you have children who have ADD and you chose not to go the medication route.Be careful - and don't forget it is your child not you who has tolive with this - and you should not judge the success of any plan on "if you think he is behaving better" but rather on his/her happiness. This is not about you - it is about your child.I think any child who changes his diet will manifest different behaviors. But ADD is a genetic, neurological disorder - to use the word "onset" and "prevention" of ADD - this is the most demeaning and blaitantly wrong term I have ever heard.Attention Deficit Disorder is caused by an insufficient release and absorbtion of Dopamine. Can a diet affect this - maybe a little - but concerta, ritalin, etc - actually do affect the release of dopamine.I applaud all of you in your research of ADD but be skeptical- of medication and of "Diets".What I do know is that I attend middlebury college and for the first three semesters I was getting mostly B's some A-'s (all without medication) - then convinced I was trying too hard or atleast much harder than everyone else for the same outcome, I decided to try concerta - which I refused in my earlier childhood years (seven-ten) as most kids do.I took an extra class and I pulled off 4A-s and a B+.I would like to think it was all me - and it really was all me, but the hard thing to understand is that many kids with ADD are intelligent enough - instead it is the neurology.Don't sell your child short by staking yourself as an anti-pharmaceutical parent...The doctors (experts) prescribe it for a reason.Keep your child playingsports, give him structure, have compassion and that is half the battle.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not for everyone
After much searching we bought this book to help our son.We are hesitant to try medication due to his medical history so thought this book sounded like a good alternative. Many of the reviews are very positive which was encouraging.
1-0 out of 5 stars Supplement industry consultant!
Part of the author's bio says she is a consultant to the supplement industry. No wonder. The list of (mostly unproven) supplements is looooooong and probably costly. I can't imagine a child or adolescent taking all of these. I'm looking for an alternative remedy for my child's ADD, but this book was no help. I'm returning it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL!!!
This book supplied the inspiration necessary to break free of an eating disorder. It is truly incredible how the author weaves modern issues into traditional stories. This book is a must for anyone struggling with an eating disorder, body dissatisfaction, or anyone who knows someone with these issues.
5-0 out of 5 stars Powerful and Inspiring!
This was an interesting book, quite true to its name, Johnston uses myths, metaphors and storytelling to help illustrate some of the core "problems" with women's thinking regarding food and eating habits. While I definitely do NOT have problems on the level of examples used in this book - I do not now, nor have I ever been anorexic or bulimic or had any medically treatable eating disorder...I do make "bad" food choices and eat for reasons that are not related to physical hunger...so I got a lot more out of this book that I thought I would based on the target audience alone.
5-0 out of 5 stars not another handbook
Anita Johnston doesn't give you another book of clinical criteria and personality tendencies. She writes with recognition that her audience has an intimate relationship with the reality and intricacies and seduction of their eating disorder. Even for the professional, she provides a new avenue to access thoughts, behaviors, symptoms. johnston's diction can be startlingly honest - denial is not easy here. But all along, she is telling myths that are safe to consider, to discuss, to debate, and ultimately to embrace, becauase they are not real and my (our?) eating disorders are not at attention and armed for battle. I think this is a beautiful book and one that I have utilized, and seen utilized in hospital and group therapy, a thousand times on the long road of recovery. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Doom for married bisexuals
I came out to my husband five years before he read this book. He didn't believe I was bisexual, but the more often I tried to talk to him about the issue, the further he would shut down. Eventually, he read this book and decided that our marriage was doomed, despite that we had been together for close to twelve years at the time. Our marriage would have been possible to salvage if he'd not read this, bought the propaganda that being married to a bisexual was a disaster, and actually attempted to communicate about the issues both of us were having.
5-0 out of 5 stars Life saving reading
No one ever expects to hear the words I heard my husband of 11 years say when he sat me down last January and told me he was gay. We had been together for nearly 16 years and have two young children. I was devistated. I went through (and am still going through) extreme emotional rollercoaster girations that left me dizzy. I felt every emotion nearly everyday. I didn't know which way was up. I didn't know what to do, who to talk to, who to trust. Trust was the first thing I started challenging in my day to day life. Friends, family, coworkers... any one I met I wondered if they too were lying to me. It was a destructive mind set that I eventually, through the help of counseling, got over. Like the book mentions, there is a moment when the strait spouse feels they've been pushed into the closet. Hiding what they know from everyone, pretending things are normal. Having been there, I can attest that that was a very scary time and this book did help me get through that and helped me rescue myself from the closet. 8 months later, I'm in my own house, feeling the freedom to have my own routine, getting on with my life, and we're divorsed but still friends. Most importantly, we're both happier now that we have been for several years. The kids have come first through this whole ordeal and we have managed to keep them on track that there is no shame in who their father is. We still do things as a family, after all, we got divorced from each other not the kids. we even do things as a big happy family with my ex and his partner. The kids seem to have adjusted pretty well so far, but I know the road is long and we've just started the journey.
1-0 out of 5 stars I'm disappointed
As a friend, I know that Jennifer left a LOT out of her book. Like, the fact that their marriage broke up before her husband came out of the closet. She never mentions the Mormon Church, yet they were very active in it; her husband decided to leave the Church, and that was when they separated. While they were separated, they BOTH started dating. Then, her ex admitted that he was dating a man.

2-0 out of 5 stars I had to return this book
It just didnt answer the bio medical questions I had to help my son. Still learning and reading, but this book wasn't "complete" for me!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Resource Book
I am a adult male with ASD.This is the first resource I have gotten on the subject. It has helped to find other resources (Autism-Digest, ASA, etc.).Chapter 2 helped to explain my problem to me.I especially enjoyed chapter 9 since I am an adult now and have to make the best of it.I do disagree with her on page 311 where she encourages "it takes a village to raise children".No it does not!It takes the parents to raise children!Grandparents, brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, friends, and churches can help the parents, but it is the parent's responsibility for their children--no one else! I also disgree on page 162 where she encourages letting teenage boys masturbate by scheduling a time for it every day.Teenage boys need to be taught to resist lusting and wait for marriage.SOme of things I liked in chapter 9 dealing with adulthood were: 1. page 290 where she encourages us to use whatever talents you have to impress people in order to get a job (I happen to be known as the "singing mailman" at the private Bible college that I work at--the facutly and students like it), 2. on pages 305-6, she talks about being married to someone with ASD (I am not married and not able to drive a car, but I am reminded about women often by people here--I do know it will not easy because I am "different"), and on page 283, she mentioned that families and friends not the government should be helping us!I agree! Most people in America think it is the government's job to do everything for them! I am not against the government giving tax breaks for people looking after disabled people, but I do not need them to force someone to hire me, or make them like me!I commend her for having to study this subject for herself because she had a son with an ASD and wanted to help him the best she knew how and not "delegate the responsibility to someone else"!

5-0 out of 5 stars a Musictherapist says: GREAT BOOK!
This is a very good book and will give you tons of useful information. What is autism? perhaps it's like a mysterious dance - in & out of reach - always changing for those who can be present.I choose 'TO BE PRESENT'!
