5-0 out of 5 stars Good Book onCognitive Thinking
This book deals with Cognitive Thinking. It gives the 10 "cognitive distortions" that we do the most. It gives information on how "thoughts" become "feelings". If we can change of method of thinking, we can change the way that we feel.
2-0 out of 5 stars If your problems are due to negative thinking alone...
...then this very upbeat book by Dr. Burns can indeed help. But I very much doubt the central thesis that thoughts control feelings and that substituting positive for negative thought patterns is the key to happiness.
4-0 out of 5 stars Definitely worth the money and time
This book is extremely useful. It is well worth your time and money if you are feeling down or are looking for a way to cope with issues or problems in your life.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Book for (at least) Two Generations
I came across this book and bought it in September 2004.Like most males, I like to think that I know my way around the bedroom with ladies, but when I glanced through "She Comes First", I realized you really can learn something new all your life.I bought it, and I can tell you my lady friend really appreciated it, and still does, to this day.The better part of a year later, my then 16 year old son noticed the book sitting off to the side of one of my bookshelves and asked about it.I recalled my teenage days when I didn't have a clue about female anatomy (let alone the female psyche), and I told my boy to read the book, cover to cover, so as to better prepare him for dealing with (and pleasing) women. He had lots of questions after he finished this book, and we passed some interesting conversations talking about women, men and women, and how we deal with each other on various levels.I'm sure the author didn't have this kind of use of his book in mind when he wrote it, but his book turned out to be a great sex education tool for my boy, and it opened up (and facilitated) channels of communication between the two of us on what can be an awkward subject, frankly, for a parent: sex and the opposite sex.Great book, and I recommend that other parents consider reading it and discussing with their kids - and that includes moms and daughters.

5-0 out of 5 stars I appreciate the step by step aspect of this book
Not to brag, but I've always prided myself on being good in the bedroom (and women have never complained haha), but still, i buy as many sex books as I can. Why? Because if I can find just ONE tip that's helpful, it's worth it's weight in gold (which is much more than the price of any book). Well, She Comes First goes into amazing detail about the pleasure areas of a woman's body, where she feels things on her nerve endings, etc. Get this book and you (and she) will not be disappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Eye-opening, very detailed and delivers great results
This book was eye-opening for me. I didn't know that the female intimate zone consists of so many different parts and is extremely sensitive due to a huge number of nerve endings. I am happy that so knowledgeable expert describes step-by-step which part after which part to stimulate in order to lead your lady to orgasm. I feel a lot more comfortable when it comes to orally pleasing my wife after I read this book. She doesn't have to be that involved now because I simply follow the clear and very detailed instructions and she literary melts in front of my eyes. I agree that she comes first and yet guys do pamper yourself as well with the secrets from "scientfically guaranteed male multiple orgasms and ultimate sex". My experience shows that when both partners have mind blowing time in bed spontaneity, libido and passion increase with each love making. I believe that every caring for his sexual education, performance and lady man should read she comes first. It is one of the few that contains exclusive and very valuable information that will make a great difference for your girl and your confidence. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Everyone should read this book
Whether or not you have personally experienced mental illness in your family or have experience in the criminial justice system, this book will open your eyes. I want to thank the author for bringing this difficult and stigmatized subject the the attention of the average citizen. A very important book that will hopefully bring about change in both the mental health system and the criminal justice system.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Favorite baby food book!!
This is the first review I've ever written.. but I just had to after seeing some of the negative reviews on it!YIKES!!
5-0 out of 5 stars so much info at your fingertips
I was shocked to read the poor reviews of this book, this is the first book I've ever reviewed and I'm doing it because it has made such a difference in our lives.I wanted to make my own healthy baby food because my firstborn suffered a lot of digestive problems starting at the time I began feeding her store bought baby food.Fresh, preservative-free homemade baby food made the difference for us.Since then I have started all my babies this way.I am thankful to Ruth Yaron for doing the legwork of getting all the info together in one book. The book includes a table of foods and the vitamins/minerals they contain, there's a section on how to prepare all the major fruits and vegetables, lots of helpful tips and hints, a good reference section on nutrition, recipes, schedules for when to feed certain foods, and lots more. She is a fanatic about some of her healthy additives for baby's food, I didn't get bothered with all that.If you really want to make your own healthy baby food and want to learn a little about good nutrition in general, this is the book for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Passionate
This book is advice from a very passionate mom. She's a little over the top on some things, as I'm sure we all are on the things we are most passionate about, but all in all it is a great reference for feeding your baby a healthy, balanced, diet. One thing I would add is that you can make the rice cereal in a rice cooker a little easier than on the stove and when you freeze it after making it that way it is not rubbery at all.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best books for people with diabetes
One of the best books that is also very easy to read for busy people with diabetes.
5-0 out of 5 stars I WAS a dummy before I read this book
I was a terrified dummy when I first learned I had type 2 diabetes in May of 2006. This is the first book I read. I felt like I could live with this disease (after reading it) and it would not be the death sentence I had previously thought it would be. We're only as healthy as we let ourselves be at any time. I plan on living to see my great grandchildren born and I don't have any grandchildren....yet!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Maybe I'm Dumber Than I Thought
Although most of the books for "dummies" are very readable, I found this one to be a bit clinical and geared more toward full-blown diabetes instead of focusing on prediabetes which was what Iwas looking for.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Diet Book
Compared to most other diet books, this book is great. It's a healthy, balanced approach to losing weight. But I didn't find any new information in this book.I thought I would learn something from the authors, but was surprised to find that wasn't the case. It's really a conventional approach to eating and exercising.(I liked Mollie Katzen better when she was "changing the world".)

5-0 out of 5 stars A Research-Based Diet and Eating Plan That Really Works!
As a public health researcher, I am always interested in what Dr. Walter Willett has to say about diet and healthy eating. His recommendations are based on research, not on fad or fashion. Now, teamed with Mollie Katzen of "Moosewood" fame, Willett has created a workable plan for helping Americans not only lose weight, but eat a healthier diet.My husband and I have tried out the 21-day plan for the last 3 weeks, and we are losing weight and we are not starving in the least! The recipes are excellent, most of them taking only a short time to prepare. One has to be committed to stick with this eating plan, but the results are very worthwhile. Congratulations to Willett and to Katzen for a job well done!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Book
The book gives details on every food group for your blood type. You can look at all four blood types at a glance in the charts given.I just wish there was more information about how to tell if you were a non-secretor or a secretor.Otherwise, good book to have in your library. The husband and I have changed our eating to be according to our blood type as suggested, and within two weeks we could both feel a difference.More energy, less bloating or indigestion. It's a good book!

3-0 out of 5 stars Physical Results May Vary!
I was considering adopting a vegitarian diet due to my many health problems and my mother told me about this book and the benefits her friends have had. So I bought the book and the information was quite facinating. It was like reading my physical autobiography, so I started the diet and I've been on it for 4 weeks and I have had no weight loss. Why..I don't know, but my energy levels have dropped significantly although I must say that my overall shape has changed. It appears that either I'm toning or I'm loosing muscle mass. The books were an easy read, but the thing I find most confusing is this concept of using herbs for ailments and overal health, there are sooooo many herbs out there for every kind of physical issue good or bad and I'm confused as to just how many pills can one person take?! I want to buy the right kind of vitamins and minerals for my body, but even on the website there are 5 or more kinds of pills that I should take, not to mention the shakes, bars and extra health meds that they recommend. I'm sorry to say that I have learned why I am sensitive to certain foods and why I've gained weight, but as to how to fix the problem, there seem to be too many pills and sometimes conflicting pieces of advice. In all, I'm more confused than I was when I was in the dark. So to all of you who have been successful with this diet, BRAVO to you, but for those of you who have bodies that are far more complex than diets and "all natural" foods, I feel you and maybe we'll find the REAL solution someday together.

3-0 out of 5 stars it was okay

5-0 out of 5 stars An essential and effective tool for coping with headaches.
I highly recommend this book as a comprehensive, patient-oriented primer on headaches. It is unique when an authority such as Dr. Buchholz succinctly presents both academic and experiential information on a common disorder which seems to have eluded resolution with most healthcare practitioners. He systematically provides an overview of the field through his extensive knowledge of research, anecdotal reports and experience with a myriad of patients. Having been a patient of Dr. Buchholz, I can emphatically attest to the wisdom, compassion and understanding that he brings to his treatment dynamic. By presenting a stratified educational, behavioral and pharaceutical treatment protocol, he provides not only a foundation for prevention but a unique vehicle for patients to assume collaborative responsibility for their treatment outcome. He has effectively created an essential tool in the arsenal of approaches to coping with headaches.
5-0 out of 5 stars Heal Your Headache - The 1-2-3 Program
I first began having migraines when I was eleven years old. Sometime in my mid-forties, these increased in duration and intensity to about fifteen excruciating days a month. I tried everything that was offered by a variety of doctors - abortive drugs, prophylactic drugs, bio-feedback, acupuncture, chiropractic, hypnosis, oxygen...Nothing helped. I was desperate. Then I saw on Good Morning America an interview with a woman who had been all but cured of her migraines. She had practiced the guidelines set forth in the book Heal Your Headache by David Buchholz. I immediately ordered the book. As soon as it arrived, I began to follow Dr. Buchholz's 1-2-3 Program. In about two weeks, I was noticing improvement. After three months, I was down to three days of migraine a month with much less intensity. It has been about three years now, and I am still doing great. Every now and then I'll have migraines six days a month, but that is still a long way from the fifteen I had been having. I can say without reserve that Dr. Buchholz has given me my life back. I am deeply grateful to him! If you are a migraine sufferer (and you must be to be reading this) please read this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for yourself and/or as a gift!!
This book is well researched (including Western science and Eastern traditions), full of excellent advice and written in easy to read, enjoyable snippets, not to mention that each page is designed with artwork and a nice visual layout. Despite what another reviewer wrote, this book has plenty of info that you probably have never heard before on topics ranging from diet and nutrition, chinese and western herbal medicines, the environment, ecology and community, exercise, lifestyle and rejuvenation, genetics, relationships, love, sexuality and faith, and the last chapter brings it all together. 1-0 out of 5 stars Secrets of Longevity
There is a lot of good advice in this book. Well written and very understandable.

5-0 out of 5 stars A unique book documenting an amazing journey
We received this book from my father-in-law as a gift after we announced my wife's pregnancy. It was really a very good choice for a gift to expectant parents.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Child Is Born
The photographs in this new edition are amazing.I bought the book for my daughter, since I had followed her development in the edition I purchased in 1980.Every expectant mother should have this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars This is an excellent book.
This is such a great book.It helped my 6 year-old son prepare for his little brother. He was so amazed by all the pictures that he actually wanted to watch his brother be born.Later on I was able to pass the book on to a friend who was pregnant for the first time. The book is so good I had to buy another one.I would recommend this book to everyone. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars A great resource
I remember that my grandma bought this book to give to my mom, so that she could share it with me.I developed pretty early, so my mom had already talked to me about my period before I read this book.I remember that she allowed me to read it myself and let me ask questions (I had lots).I also remember looking at the book with my cousin and laughing at the pictures of the developing male and female bodies. All in all, it's a great book that I'm glad is still in publication.I'd caution parents to give it to their children earlier than the age the book recommends. Both boys and girls are reaching puberty earlier these days and need to know about all of this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful in 1975, and still is
My parents read both this book and "Where did I come from?" to me when they were first published in the mid-seventies (I was born in 1970).I don't remember feeling awkward or embarrassed about the books.I was at an age where everything was pre-sexual.I had no social hang-ups about my body parts.I remember very clearly starting elementary school about this time and I was able to understand what all the innuendos were about. Yes, sexual innuendos by many other children that couldn't have been older than nine.I remember other kids laughing at the girl who really believed that children came from the cabbage patch!I remember one of my friends crying and running to her mother when she caught our friend Kenny using the toilet while standing up.She though he had a horrible tumor.
4-0 out of 5 stars I loved this book...
I think I'll make it a tradition in my family! My mom gave me this book when I was growing up, and I swear I read it cover to cover each day!! I loved the illustrations; I thought they eased the transition from Uncomfy-with-the-whole-puberty-thing to Yay!-I'm a Woman!! :P I'd recommend it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The BEST book on bullying
This is a must have book for anyone that deals with kids. Our schools have a problem with bullying that the district is presently denying. I hope to start a support group soon - and this will be the one book I highly recommend reading.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Incite
Excellent Book on the actual personalities of Bullies, their victims and the people who don't step in to help the victim.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Bully, the bullied and the Bystander
It is a book that should be owned definitely by every parent, and also by everyone. It helps with understanding of how and why we came here, why we are who we are, and how to make it better for our kids and actually for every one around us. It describes how a family should treat our kids with respect and freedom. It is one book which I think is a must read. It gives insight into how we can change despite of bad experiences while we grew up. I would recommend it to be bought before buying a crib when you expect a baby! It is like a bible for a christan, Geeta for an Indian, Koran for a Muslim. It tells the three kinds of families, two dysfucntional and how they make long lasting deficiencies in kid's psyche. Then it explains how a backbone family gives freedom and respect to a child and makes him independent and loving. It takes a while to read as it has painful stories of kids who killed themselves because of bullying. This book should be talked about in parent teacher's organizations, at churches, temples , Sunday schools and so on. It is one book that will make a difference in our society. It describes the importance of difference between teasing and taunting and how taunting can lead to suicides, hurts not only the bullied but also instills fear in the bystanders. It weaves the relation of parental upbringing into making a kid a passive bystander as opposed to helper for the bullied. It tells signs to be seen in your child to detect if he is bullied, questions to be asked. It tells the life destroying long lasting effects on his own life if a bully is not stopped! It gives non humiliating strategies how to stop a bully and how to empower a bullied and the critical role of bystander and how to make him help the bullied. A fantastically written book. A life changing book! ... Read more
